In 1963 the Heuer Carrera debuted. It was a meticulously crafted design and a clear expression of Jack's philosophy. Inspired by the iconic Carrera Panamericana, Jack Heuer decided it was the perfect name for a watch with an automotive spirit, useful and functional, with a clean and legible design, without extraneous elements that would distract the wearer's gaze. In 2023, 60 years later, TAG Heuer once again pays tribute to Porsche's exceptional speed with the exceptional TAG Heuer Carrera Chronosprint x Porsche watches, which bring revolutionary designs and concept watches to life.
New caliber TH20-08
As a tribute to precision and speed, TAG Heuer introduces a new movement to the industry, the TH20-08 caliber, a new interpretation of the in-house TH20 caliber launched at the 2023 Watches & Wonders show.
Its central hand accelerates rapidly, decelerates gradually for 60 seconds and restarts quickly. The chosen design ensures perfect legibility of the dial. The movement's unique mechanism features two snail-shaped wheels, which create a captivating decelerating movement for the central hand. These wheels are manufactured with state-of-the-art technology, the so-called LiGA process that is widely used in the MEMS industry. The TH20-08 represents TAG Heuer's commitment to precision, craftsmanship and captivating design, setting a new standard in watchmaking.
These watches are available in steel and gold versions, each featuring a unique design.
Most notable about these timepieces is their dial, which visually captures the idea of speed and acceleration. The red lines on the dial enhancement represent acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 9.1 seconds, which is a tribute to the first Porsche 911. This dynamic element adds a sense of movement and energy to the watch.
Also, to add a motorsport-inspired touch, subtle red accents have been incorporated throughout the watch. The subdial at 6 o'clock references the iconic Porsche dashboard of the 1970s, where the zone around 50 km/h was highlighted to indicate the recommended speed in urban areas.
