Within the six lunar landings that have left their mark on history, the iconic OMEGA Speedmaster stands as a true symbol of space, reflecting the distinctive pioneering spirit of the OMEGA brand.

This 44.25mm model commemorates the historic Apollo 8 mission through meticulously crafted details. The lunar surface is portrayed in the blackened movement, laser-cut on the main plate and bridges. The black anodized aluminum skeleton dial provides a glimpse of the near side, while the far side is revealed through the case back.

Complete with a perforated black leather strap with a yellow rubber lining, the entire watch is crafted in black ceramic. Notable features include the yellow lacquered chronograph second hand and the laser-engraved tachymeter scale on the bezel, filled with white enamel. The small seconds subdial boasts a Grade 5 titanium hand shaped like the Saturn V rocket, achieved through laser turning, with colors applied through white lacquer, ablation, and laser blackening.

Titanium alloys are lightweight, corrosion-resistant, biochemically inert, and capable of withstanding extreme temperatures. These properties make them particularly suitable for products in the aerospace, space, and medical sectors. Titanium strikes the perfect balance between strength, corrosion resistance, and ease of workability. Grade 5 titanium offers a bright gray color similar to noble steel and allows for both brushed and polished finishes.

Powered by the OMEGA Co-Axial Master Chronometer caliber 3869, with a 50-hour power reserve, the beautifully decorated movement features engravings on the case back that include "APOLLO 8, DEC 1968," "DARK SIDE OF THE MOON," "WE'LL SEE YOU ON THE OTHER SIDE," and "CO-AXIAL MASTER CHRONOMETER."

It is a manual-winding chronograph movement with a Co-Axial escapement, certified as a Master Chronometer by METAS and designed to resist magnetic fields up to 15,000 gauss. The main plate and bridges showcase a textured and blackened lunar relief, surpassing the lunar detail of the previous Caliber 1869 thanks to precise laser engraving and contrasting surfaces.

The nickel-coated barrels and the balance wheel with a black gold coating add to the sophistication. Additionally, it features a free-sprung balance with a silicon hairspring. With an impressive 50-hour power reserve, this movement incorporates advanced technology for exceptional performance in various conditions.

Scratch-Resistant Sapphire Crystal with Anti-Reflective Treatment on Both Sides: To truly appreciate the subtle details of a watch, OMEGA employs a synthetic sapphire crystal with a highly scratch-resistant and anti-reflective treatment. Before machining and finishing processes, sapphire crystals are produced using the Verneuil process, also known as flame fusion. It involves melting the raw material with an oxyhydrogen flame and crystallizing the molten droplets to form a cylinder. With a hardness grade of 9 on the Mohs scale (a scale from 1 to 10), resulting sapphire crystals are virtually scratch-proof and very hard, ensuring unobstructed visibility at all times.
