Omega Speedmaster Apollo 8 Dark Side of the Moon 44,25mm 311.92.44.30.01.001

As part of the six historic moon landings, the legendary OMEGA Speedmaster is a true icon of space and of OMEGA's pioneering spirit.

In this 44.25 mm model, the Speedmaster's lunar history is commemorated in the blackened movement, which has been laser-ablated to represent the surface of the moon.

The visible side is shown through the blackened openworked dial; the hidden side is visible through the caseback.

A tribute to Apollo 8, the second manned mission to the moon, which reached and orbited the natural satellite before returning to Earth. All this took place on 21 December 1968, 50 years ago.

Presented on a black, perforated leather strap with a yellow rubber interior, the entire watch is made of black ceramic and includes varnished yellow chronograph hands and a Super-LumiNova tachymeter scale.

The specially decorated inner movement is the OMEGA calibre 1869, while engravings on the caseback include "APOLLO 8, DEC 1968", "DARK SIDE OF THE MOON" and "WE'LL SEE YOU ON THE OTHER SIDE".

Hand-wound chronograph movement, a blackened and moon-relief textured version of the calibre 1861 incorporated in the famous Speedmaster Moonwatch of the time.

This movement offers the possibility of being translated into a slimmer and more comfortable watch thanks to the elimination of the automatic module.

As a tribute to the Apollo 8 mission, the dial and the back of the movement were decorated using a technique that simulates the different reliefs of the lunar surface.
