Super AVI, the brand new Breitling watch series, pays homage to aviation history with designs inspired by the original 1953 "Co-Pilot" aviator's watch Ref. 765 AVI and four legendary aircraft: the North American Aviation P-51 Mustang, the Vought F4U Corsair, the Curtiss P-40 Warhawk and the de Havilland Mosquito.

The black ceramic bezel of the Breitling Super AVI Chronograph GMT 46 mm MOSQUITO YB04451A1B1X1 with polished and satin-brushed combination is accompanied by a black dial with contrasting white chronograph counters.

Its red and orange elements recall the cockades and insignia on that versatile aircraft nicknamed the "wooden wonder".

At a time when aluminium and steel were often in short supply, the engineers of the de Havilland Mosquito turned to a material that was still plentiful: wood.

The "wooden wonder" caused quite a stir when, surpassing its metal contemporaries, it became one of the fastest aircraft built from 1940 to 1950. Its superb manoeuvrability enabled it to take on multi-tasking roles as varied as light bomber, night fighter, transport and photographic reconnaissance.
