OMEGA Speedmaster Moonwatch Anniversary Series First Omega in Space 39,7mm 310.30.40.50.06.001

On October 3, 1962, the Speedmaster CK 2998 became the first OMEGA worn in space when astronaut Walter Schirra took his personal model on the Sigma 7 mission of the Mercury programme. This updated version pays homage to that pioneering watch, retaining the same second-generation Speedmaster style with a modern design.

The 39.70 mm case is crafted from polished and brushed stainless steel, and features a flat-link bracelet equipped with OMEGA's patented "comfort release" adjustment system. The bezel ring is made of black aluminium and showcases the legendary tachymeter scale, complete with the iconic “Dot Over Ninety” (DON).

Beneath the new sapphire crystal, shaped like hesalite, the blue-grey dial is coated with CVD (Chemical Vapour Deposition) to replicate the tone of some CK 2998 watches produced in the 1960s. Along with vintage white Super-LumiNova-filled “Alpha” hour and minute hands, the central “Baton” second hand is varnished in white to match the transferred markings. The sub-dials include a 30-minute recorder at 3 o’clock, a 12-hour recorder at 6 o’clock, and a small seconds sub-dial at 9 o’clock.

A vintage OMEGA logo has been applied to the dial and the crown, while the case back features the famous seahorse medallion and the engravings “THE FIRST OMEGA IN SPACE” and “OCTOBER 3, 1962.”

The watch is powered by the Co-Axial Master Chronometer calibre 3861, the most modern version of the calibre 321 used by astronauts in space. The timepiece comes in a special case containing the LEGENDARY MOONWATCH documentation.

This manual-winding chronograph movement features a Co-Axial Escapement. Certified Master Chronometer, METAS approved, and resistant to magnetic fields up to 15,000 gauss. It has a free-sprung balance with a silicon balance spring, and the rhodium-plated finish includes bridges decorated with Côtes de Genève.

Power reserve: 50 hours.

Sapphire crystal, scratch-resistant, shaped like hesalite with anti-reflective treatment on the inside.

WATER RESISTANCE: 5 bar (50 metres / 167 feet).

FEATURES: Antimagnetic, chronograph, chronometer, certified Master Chronometer, small seconds, tachymeter.
